Oxford Christadelphians

We are a small, friendly church in Oxford. We welcome you to come and join us at any of our services. The services follow a simple pattern – prayers, songs and hymns, Bible readings, and a talk or a discussion. We have no priests or paid ministers. We organise our services and activities ourselves. This leads to a variety of approaches and plenty of individual interest.

Who we are

The Christadelphians are a Christian community whose beliefs are based wholly on the Bible. We try to avoid the rituals and trappings that can attach themselves to Christianity. We don’t have elaborate buildings or over-formal services. We try to stick to Bible basics.

We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. We believe that because Jesus led a sinless life, God raised him from the dead and exalted him to a place of honour by God’s side. God has promised that all those who put their faith in Jesus will also be raised from the dead when Jesus returns to the earth to rule over it in peace and righteousness. We are confidently waiting for that day.

The name “Christadelphian” was first used in the mid-1800s. There have been Christadelphians in Oxford since the 1890s. We believe that since the days of the first-century apostles there have been people who share our beliefs.

Who was Jesus?

He was one man who lived two thousand years ago. How can what this man said and did be of any significance to us today? Why should we take his teachings seriously? And why do Christians seem so obsessed by his gruesome death?
