Creation, stewardship and climate change

We believe that God created the world and everything in it, and so we see this world as a gift from God to be received both with gratitude and with responsibility. Treating the natural world with care and respect is part of our thanksgiving for the gift. Aiming to live sustainably and in harmony with the environment is part of our stewardship of this world. Caring for the planet and for the rest of humanity is part of the call of Christian love. We believe that caring for creation, and the responsibilities that follow from that, are part of what it means to be Christian.

As a church, we aim for sustainability in our procurement processes and in the reduction and disposal of waste. We seek prayerfully to act for the best in our own small way, and we are exploring ways to reduce the carbon footprint of our church. Our members encourage one another to think about their own personal impact on the environment and adopt ways of living harmoniously with God’s creation.
